Dayle Haddon, the former supermodel, actress, and humanitarian, tragically passed away on Friday after what police suspect was a carbon monoxide leak at a home in Bucks County, Pennsylvania.
Authorities were called to the property at 6:30 a.m. after a 911 report about a 76-year-old man found unconscious in the first-floor of a detached “in-law” suite.
The man was taken to a hospital, and while his condition was not immediately known, a second victim, a 76-year-old woman, was found dead in the bedroom on the second floor of the suite.
The woman was later identified as Haddon by Bucks County Deputy Coroner Eliot Gross, who confirmed her death. Toxicology reports are pending to determine the exact cause of death.
Emergency responders on the scene detected high levels of carbon monoxide in the house, and two medics had to be hospitalized for exposure, while another was treated on site.
The home is owned by Haddon’s daughter, former journalist Ryan Haddon, and her husband, actor Marc Blucas. Haddon, a Canadian-born model, was one of the top models in the 1970s, appearing on the cover of the 1973 Sports Illustrated Swimsuit issue.
She also starred in the 1973 Disney movie The World’s Greatest Athlete and appeared in several Hollywood films, including North Dallas Forty (1979).
In addition to her modeling career, Haddon served as a spokesperson for L’Oréal and authored Ageless Beauty: A Woman’s Guide to Lifelong Beauty and Well-Being.
She was a passionate humanitarian, traveling the world as an ambassador for UNICEF and founding the charity WomenOne, which focused on creating educational opportunities for girls and women.
Her son-in-law, Blucas, is a former basketball star turned actor, known for roles in Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Blue Bloods, and First Daughter. Ryan Haddon, who was previously married to actor Christian Slater, has been married to Blucas since 2009.
